The ultrafiltration membranes are being increasingly used in the industrial and municipal sector, mainly because it is a robust treatmentwhich does not require continuous use of chemical products, and has a very high performance versus conventional treatments in the removal of suspended solids, reduction of SDI value and pathogens such as bacteria and viruses.

It is essential to protect the membranes by pre-filtration, since if particles larger than 100-200 microns enter the membranes, the useful life of the membranes is reduced and a greater number of chemical cleanings are necessary, increasing the cost of operation and maintenance of the installation.
