Catchment water filtration

Applications
Applications/ Water in take filtration
Cultura del agua - AZUD

Water in  take can come from different sources such as rivers, wells or seas. These water sources may contain various contaminants, such as pathogenic microorganisms, high turbidity and suspended solids, which can affect industrial or drinking water processes. Filtration helps to remove these contaminants and ensure that the water is safe for use.

In industrial processes, the use of unfiltered water can affect the quality of the final product. Particles and contaminants present in the water can alter the physicochemical properties of the product.

Filtration is therefore essential in the treatment of water in take, as it helps to remove contaminants, prevent blockages in pipes and equipment, reduce efficiency loss and ensure the quality of the final product.

Benefits of water in take filtration

  • Protection of equipment downstream of the catchment
If the catchment water contains a significant amount of suspended solids and turbidity, the costs associated with the operation and maintenance of downstream equipment may increase.
  • Lower energy consumption
Adequate solids removal in a water catchment can contribute to lower energy consumption, avoiding deposits and blockages in pipes that require higher energy costs in the initial pumping.
  • Reduced chemical consumption
By reducing the amount of suspended solids in a catchment water, greater efficiency in the coagulation and flocculation process can be achieved. This translates into lower chemical consumption, which can be beneficial from an economic and environmental point of view.

How AZUD Industrial solves it

Open catchment

Dual stage filtration system: stage 1 mesh technology, stage 2 disc technology. Designed to capture fresh, brackish or sea water, with a high amount of suspended solids, algae and organic matter.

Closed catchment

Disc filtration system, designed to collect well water or pre-filtered water with small suspended solids (< 200 microns).
